We call the Church apostolic because the Church teaches exactly what the twelve Apostles taught. The Church can trace its existence through the ordination of its bishops all the way back to the Apostles and, through them, to Christ. We call this concept “Apostolic Succession” – a guarantee that Orthodox Christianity is genuine and rooted in the original Church founded by Christ Himself.
