Holy Trinity is fortunate to have an energetic and ever-growing choir program. In addition to singing for Divine Liturgy on Sundays, the choir also sings for various holidays through out the year including Christmas Eve, Holy Week, and Pascha.
Outreach: The Holy Trinity Choir has begun an ongoing series of concerts titled “One Voice.” The purpose of the series is to nurture understanding and fellowship between Orthodox Christianity and other faith traditions using the commonality of worship. Our first One Voice Concert, in January of 2010, featured the Worship Choir from Speedway Baptist Church. For our second concert in March of 2011, we hosted the choir from Faith Presbyterian Church. We are currently in the early planning stages for our third One Voice Concert, which will be held in early 2012. Our guests will be the choir from the Indianapolis Hebrew Congregation. Stay tuned for more information on that event.
In July of 2010, the Holy Trinity Choir was invited to sing at the opening worship service for the International Council of Community Churches Annual Convention. This performance gave us a chance to expand the understanding of both Orthodox worship and music to the 400 ministers from throughout the world who were in attendance.
Camaraderie with other Holy Trinity groups: Through various activities we continue to nurture a strong bond of good will with the other ministries of Holy Trinity. We periodically host the Sunday coffee hour and annually provide a Lenten supper following a Presanctified Liturgy. The choir is proud of its relationship with the Philoptochos and the GOYA organizations and have partnered with both groups for the benefit of our church. In the past two years, the choir has donated several items to Holy Trinity as we continue to grow into our new facility.
Fundraising: The choir has chosen to focus its fundraising on one annual, musical event. In December of 2010, the choir staged our first Madrigal Feast. (You may view photos from that event here, or read a story about it in the December MEFGOX newsletter.) Our goal was to sell 170 tickets, but, due to demand, we performed to a sold-out house of 224 attendees. This single event provided us with the funds for adding new robes, buying new music, providing community outreach, and covering other necessities that a dynamic group incurs annually. Our next Madrigal Feast is scheduled for December 3, 2011. Tickets will go on sale mid-September.
Membership: Currently, we have 29 members, but we are always looking for new talent. Please contact our Choir Director, Bill Christoff, for more information about joining.
