Pentecost
Movable date – 50 days after Pascha

“it is to your advantage that I go away, for if I do not go away, the Counselor will not come to you; but if I go, I will send him to you.” John 16:7

Pentecost is celebrated as the birth of the Orthodox Christian Church and the Feast Day of the Holy Trinity. It occurs 10 days after the Ascension of our Lord. It is the day when the Holy Spirit descended upon the disciples, as Jesus promised, and appeared to them as “tongues of fire.” This was a profound and transformative experience – all of them began to speak in tongues, and we believe that thousands were baptized into the Faith that day.
