After Christ’s decent into Hades, the realm of death was destroyed forever. In the traditional Byzantine icon of the Resurrection, Christ is seen lifting Adam and Eve by their hands – raising them from their graves and back to life. In freeing Adam and Eve, Christ freed all of humanity from the curse of death, granting eternal life to all those who believe.
